Objective
By the end of this lesson, Jax will understand the basic functions of the human body, including major organs and their roles, while engaging in fun physical activities that relate to how our bodies work.
Materials and Prep
- Open space for physical activities (like a backyard or living room)
- Jax's body (no additional materials needed!)
- Basic knowledge of the human body and its organs (heart, lungs, muscles, etc.)
- Prepare to explain how exercise affects the body
Activities
-
Body Organs Relay:
Set up a relay race where Jax runs to different "stations" that represent various organs (e.g., a pillow for the heart, a chair for the lungs). At each station, he can shout out what the organ does before running back.
-
Muscle Movement Challenge:
Jax will perform different exercises (like jumping jacks, push-ups, and squats) while discussing which muscles are being used. This will help him connect physical activity with muscle function.
-
Breathing Exercise:
Jax can lie down and place his hands on his belly to feel it rise and fall as he takes deep breaths. Discuss how the lungs work and how breathing helps our body.
Talking Points
- "The heart is like a pump that sends blood all over your body!"
- "Did you know your lungs help you breathe in oxygen? Let's feel our breath!"
- "Muscles help us move! Can you feel your muscles working when you jump?"
- "When we exercise, our heart beats faster to pump more blood. Can you feel your heart?"
- "Our brain tells our body what to do. What do you think your brain is telling you right now?"
- "Every organ in our body has a special job. What do you think your stomach does?"
- "Drinking water is important because it helps all our organs work better!"
- "Exercise is a fun way to keep our body healthy. What’s your favorite way to move?"
