Objective
By the end of this lesson, Zayn will understand the importance of parks in our community, learn about the different types of plants and animals found in parks, and explore how parks provide recreational opportunities while also helping the environment.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook or paper for notes
- Pencil or pen for writing
- Access to a park for exploration
- Basic knowledge of local wildlife and plants (optional)
Activities
-
Park Exploration: Take a walk in the park and observe the different types of trees, plants, and animals. Zayn can make a list of everything he sees and sketches of interesting plants or animals.
-
Nature Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt list of items to find in the park, such as a specific type of leaf, a bird, or a flower. Zayn can check off each item as he finds it, making it a fun and interactive way to learn about nature.
-
Park Design Project: After exploring, Zayn can design his own park on paper. He can think about what features he would include, such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and gardens, and explain why he chose those elements.
