Objective
By the end of this lesson, Abbie will have a fun and engaging understanding of Saturn, including its rings, moons, and unique features. She will be able to share interesting facts about Saturn and express her creativity through various activities.
Materials and Prep
- Pencil and paper for notes and drawings
- Colored pencils or markers
- A large piece of cardboard or poster board for a project
- Access to the internet (if possible) for research
- A timer for activities
Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with basic facts about Saturn, including its position in the solar system, its rings, and its moons, to better guide Abbie during the activities.
Activities
- Saturn Fact Hunt:
Abbie will search for interesting facts about Saturn online or from books. She can write down at least five facts that she finds fascinating.
- Ring Creation:
Using colored pencils or markers, Abbie will draw Saturn and its rings on a piece of paper. She can be creative and use different colors to represent the different materials that make up the rings.
- Moon Exploration:
Abbie will pick one of Saturn's moons to research more about. She will write a short paragraph about it and draw a picture of what she imagines it looks like.
- Saturn Presentation:
Abbie will create a mini-poster on the cardboard or poster board showcasing what she learned about Saturn, including her favorite facts and drawings. She can then present it to you as if she were teaching you!
