Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the importance of physical activity and learn basic movements and skills while visiting the park.
Materials and Prep
- Comfortable clothing and shoes
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Any necessary park permits or permissions
Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with the park layout and any specific rules or regulations that may apply.
Activities
- Warm-up: Start by stretching different parts of your body. Reach up high, touch your toes, and twist side to side.
- Obstacle Course: Set up a simple obstacle course using natural elements in the park, such as tree stumps to jump over, a balance beam made from a fallen log, and a tunnel made from bushes. Encourage the student to complete the course multiple times, trying to beat their previous time.
- Nature Scavenger Hunt: Create a list of items to find in the park, such as a leaf, a pinecone, a bird, or a flower. Explore the park together and check off each item as it is found.
- Animal Movements: Pretend to be different animals found in the park. Crawl like a bear, hop like a rabbit, and waddle like a duck. Encourage the student to come up with their own animal movements too.
- Cool-down: End the lesson with some gentle stretching and deep breathing exercises. Reflect on the activities and ask the student how they felt during each one.
