Materials and Prep

  • Minecraft (Java or Bedrock Edition)
  • A computer or gaming console with Minecraft installed
  • A notebook or digital document for jotting down ideas
  • A timer (optional, for time management during activities)

Before the lesson, ensure that Minecraft is installed and ready to play. Familiarize yourself with the basic controls and gameplay mechanics if you haven't already.

Activities

  • Exploration Time

Fletcher will spend 15-20 minutes exploring a new world in Minecraft. He can look for different biomes, animals, and resources. Encourage him to take notes on what he finds interesting!

  • Building Challenge

Fletcher will have 30 minutes to build a structure of his choice using the materials he finds. This could be a house, a castle, or something completely unique! Remind him to think about the design and functionality of his building.

  • Resource Management Game

Fletcher will gather resources and create a simple item, like a crafting table or a furnace. Discuss the importance of resource management and how gathering materials affects gameplay.

  • Creative Storytelling

Fletcher will create a short story about his Minecraft adventure. He can write it down or share it verbally. Encourage him to include characters, challenges, and outcomes!
