Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the story of Jesus feeding the people and learn about sharing and caring for others. The student will also engage in fun activities that reinforce the message of the story.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed, just your imagination and a willingness to learn!
- Be familiar with the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 (found in the Bible, John 6:1-14).
Activities
-
Story Time:
Read or tell the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 in a simple and engaging way. Use expressive voices and gestures to make it come alive.
-
Snack Sharing:
Prepare a simple snack (like crackers or fruit) and pretend to share it with others, just like Jesus did. Talk about how sharing makes everyone happy.
-
Craft Time:
Using paper plates, the student can create a plate of food. They can draw or color fish and bread to represent the miracle.
-
Role Play:
Act out the story with the student. One can be Jesus and the other can be a person in the crowd. Use simple props like a blanket for a picnic.
Talking Points
- "Do you know how many people Jesus fed? It was 5,000! That’s a lot of people!"
- "Jesus used just 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed everyone. Isn’t that amazing?"
- "When we share, we show love just like Jesus. Can you think of something you can share?"
- "Jesus cares about everyone and wants us to care too. How can we help others today?"
