Objective
By the end of this baking class, the student will learn how to measure ingredients, mix them together, and bake a simple treat. They will also understand the importance of following a recipe and the fun of creating something delicious!
Materials and Prep
- 1 cup of flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter (softened)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Mixing bowl
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Whisk or spoon for mixing
- Baking tray
- Oven (to be used with adult supervision)
Before the lesson, make sure the oven is clean and ready to use. Also, ensure that the student understands the need for adult supervision when using the oven.
Activities
- Measuring Ingredients: The student will learn how to measure out the ingredients using cups and spoons. This helps them understand quantities and numbers.
- Mixing the Batter: The student will mix the ingredients together in a bowl. This is a fun way to practice stirring and using their muscles!
- Shaping the Treats: The student can shape the batter into fun forms like balls or cookies. They can use their creativity to make different shapes!
- Baking Time: While waiting for the treats to bake, the student can learn about the baking process and why we need to wait for the oven to do its magic!
