Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and count numbers up to 10 using Minions as a fun and engaging theme. The student will also understand basic addition through playful activities.
Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed.
- Prepare to use your imagination and creativity to incorporate Minions into counting and simple math activities.
- Be ready to engage in fun conversations about Minions to keep the lesson lively.
Activities
-
Counting Minions:
Use your fingers to represent Minions. Hold up one finger and say, "This is one Minion!" Then hold up two fingers and say, "Now we have two Minions!" Continue up to ten, encouraging the student to count along.
-
Minion Addition:
Use your fingers again to show simple addition. For example, hold up three fingers and say, "Three Minions are here!" Then hold up two more fingers and say, "Now we have two more Minions!" Count all the fingers together and say, "Three plus two equals five Minions!"
-
Minion Dance Count:
Play a fun game where you dance like a Minion while counting. For every dance move, count out loud. For example, "One dance move, two dance moves!" This helps the student associate movement with numbers.
Talking Points
- "Look at my fingers! Each finger is a Minion! Can you count them with me?"
- "If we have three Minions and two more come, how many do we have now? Let's count together!"
- "Let's dance like Minions! How many dance moves can we do? Count them with me!"
