Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify the days of the week, understand how calendars work, and create their own personalized calendar to keep track of important dates and events.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or colored pens
- Ruler (optional for drawing lines)
- Creative imagination!
Before the lesson, make sure to discuss with the student any important dates or events coming up in their life, such as birthdays or holidays, to incorporate into the calendar activity.
Activities
-
Day of the Week Song: Start the lesson by singing a fun song about the days of the week. This will help the student memorize them in a cheerful way!
-
Calendar Creation: Using the paper, the student will create their own calendar. They can decorate it with drawings and colors, and write down important dates, such as family birthdays or upcoming holidays.
-
Days of the Week Game: Play a game where the student has to match activities to the days of the week. For example, "What do you do on a Saturday?" They can come up with their own activities for each day!
-
Weekly Planner: Have the student plan out their week on a piece of paper. They can write down what they want to do each day, like reading, playing, or doing schoolwork.
