Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concepts of ecosystems, including the interactions between living organisms and their environment. They will also be able to identify different types of ecosystems and the roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers within them.
Materials and Prep

Activities

Ecosystem Diorama:
The student will create a diorama representing a specific ecosystem, such as a rainforest, desert, or ocean. They can use paper, colored pencils, and any other craft materials they have at home to illustrate the plants and animals found in that ecosystem.

Food Web Creation:
The student will draw a food web for their chosen ecosystem, identifying producers, consumers, and decomposers. They will label each organism and explain their role within the food web.

If technology is available, the student will research a specific animal or plant found in their chosen ecosystem. They will prepare a short presentation or write a paragraph about its characteristics, habitat, and role in the ecosystem.
