Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the concept of Epcot as a theme park that celebrates innovation, technology, and world cultures. They will learn about different countries represented in Epcot and how these cultures contribute to our understanding of the world.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and colored pencils or markers
  • Access to a computer or tablet for research (optional)
  • Printed images or drawings of Epcot attractions (optional)
  • Map of Epcot (can be drawn by the student)

Before the lesson, it might be helpful to familiarize yourself with Epcot's layout and the countries represented in the World Showcase. This will make the activities more engaging and informative.

Activities

  • Country Exploration: Choose 3 countries represented in Epcot's World Showcase. Research fun facts about each country, such as its culture, food, and famous landmarks. Create a mini-poster for each country using paper and colored pencils.

  • Design Your Own Pavilion: Imagine you could create your own pavilion in Epcot. Draw what it would look like and write a short description of the culture or theme you would showcase. Think about what makes your pavilion special!

  • World Showcase Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt list of items or facts that can be found in Epcot. For example, "Find something that represents Japan" or "What food is popular in Italy?" Use your imagination to come up with fun clues!
