Objective

By the end of this lesson, Tempest will be able to identify and name the main characters from the show "Friends," understand the concept of friendship, and express what makes a good friend through fun activities and discussion.

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Be familiar with the main characters of "Friends": Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe.
  • Prepare to engage in fun discussions about friendship and what it means to be a good friend.

Activities

  • Character Dress Up:

Tempest can choose her favorite character from "Friends" and pretend to dress up like them using clothes or accessories from around the house. This encourages creativity and role-play.

  • Friendship Circle:

Gather in a circle and take turns sharing what makes each of the "Friends" characters special. Tempest can also share what she likes about her friends.

  • Friendship Art:

Using crayons or markers, Tempest can draw a picture of her favorite "Friends" character and then draw a picture of her friends, explaining how they are similar.

  • Story Time:

Read a simple story about friendship, and then discuss how the characters in the story are like the "Friends" characters. This can help her make connections between the stories.

Talking Points

  • "Can you tell me who your favorite character from 'Friends' is?"
  • "What do you think makes a good friend? Is it sharing toys, playing together, or being nice?"
  • "Do you remember a time when you did something nice for a friend? That’s just like how the 'Friends' help each other!"
  • "Let’s think about how we can be good friends, just like Ross and Rachel!"
