Materials and Prep

  • Colored pencils or markers

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of what technology is and how it is used in our daily lives.

Activities

  1. Brainstorming: Start by discussing different types of technology with your student. Ask them to think about their favorite technological devices or inventions. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper.
  2. Story Planning: Help your student choose one of the technological devices or inventions they mentioned. Ask them to think about a story involving that technology. Encourage them to think creatively and come up with interesting characters and plot points.
  3. Writing the Story: Have your student write their story using the ideas they brainstormed. Remind them to include a beginning, middle, and end in their story. Encourage them to use descriptive language and to make their story engaging for the reader.
  4. Illustrating the Story: After writing the story, your student can illustrate it using colored pencils or markers. They can draw pictures of the characters, the technology, or important scenes from their story.
  5. Sharing the Story: Once the story is complete, your student can share it with you or other family members. Encourage them to read it aloud and explain their illustrations.
