Objective
By the end of this lesson, Rosabella will understand how foods like spinach, lettuces, tomatoes, and apples are grown and harvested. She will learn about the life cycle of plants, create fun apple prints, taste different types of apples, and watch videos about planting and harvesting.
Materials and Prep
- Different types of apples (e.g., Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Fuji)
- Paper for apple prints
- Markers or crayons for drawing
- Access to a computer or tablet for videos
Before the lesson, gather various types of apples and ensure you have a device ready to watch videos about planting and harvesting. Prepare a space for art activities.
Activities
-
Apple Prints:
Cut an apple in half and dip the flat side in paint. Press it onto paper to make fun apple prints! Look closely at the star shape in the center of the apple.
-
Taste Test:
Try different types of apples and discuss their flavors. Which one is sweet? Which one is tart? Write down what you think about each one!
-
Watch a Video:
Find a fun video that shows how different foods are grown and harvested. Pay attention to how farmers take care of plants!
-
Draw the Life Cycle of Plants:
Using markers or crayons, draw the life cycle of a plant. Start with a seed, then show how it grows into a plant, and finally how it produces food.
