Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and explain key aspects of Medieval times, including the feudal system, the role of knights and castles, and the impact of the Black Death.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  1. Research the feudal system and create a visual representation of the different social classes. Use symbols or drawings to represent peasants, knights, lords, and the king. Label each class and explain their roles and relationships.

  2. Read about knights and their code of chivalry. Write a short story or create a comic strip depicting a knight's heroic adventure, incorporating elements of chivalry and medieval life.

  3. Investigate the purpose and design of castles during the Middle Ages. Design and build a model castle using materials such as cardboard, craft sticks, or clay. Explain the defensive features and functions of your castle.

  4. Explore the impact of the Black Death on Medieval Europe. Write a report or create a presentation highlighting the causes, spread, and consequences of the plague. Include information on how it affected society, economy, and healthcare.
