Objective

Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with basic facts about the 50 states, including their capitals, state birds, flowers, and any unique historical facts. This will help guide discussions and activities.

Activities

  • State Research Project:

    The student will choose one state to research. They can find out interesting facts, including its capital, famous landmarks, and unique history. After gathering information, they will create a small poster or presentation about their chosen state.

  • Artistic State Symbols:

    The student will draw or paint the state flag, state bird, and state flower of their chosen state. This will help them connect visually with the symbols that represent their state.

  • State Trivia Game:

    After completing their research, the student can create a trivia game with questions about their state. They can invite family members to play and test their knowledge!
