By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to discuss their daily routine in the target foreign language, using relevant vocabulary and phrases. They will also be able to understand and ask basic questions about daily routines, enhancing their conversational skills.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook and pen for note-taking
- Access to a dictionary or translation app (if needed)
- Timer for activities
- List of daily routine vocabulary in the target language (prepared beforehand)
- Whiteboard or large paper for visual aids (optional)
Activities
-
Vocabulary Brainstorming: Start by brainstorming a list of activities that you do daily, such as waking up, brushing teeth, eating breakfast, going to school, etc. Write them down in your notebook in both English and the target language. This will help you build your vocabulary.
-
Role-Playing: Pair up with a family member or a friend (or just use your imagination) and role-play a conversation about your daily routine. Take turns asking and answering questions, such as "What time do you wake up?" and "What do you do after school?"
-
Daily Routine Chart: Create a visual chart of your daily routine using drawings or symbols to represent each activity. Label each part of your routine in the target language. This will reinforce your vocabulary and provide a visual reference.
-
Listening Practice: If possible, listen to a short audio clip or video in the target language that discusses daily routines. Write down any new words or phrases you hear and try to incorporate them into your conversation.
