Objective

By the end of this lesson, L will be able to demonstrate their understanding of English through reading, writing, and speaking activities. L will create a short story, answer comprehension questions, and engage in a fun discussion about their favorite book or story.

Materials and Prep

  • Notebook or writing paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Timer (optional for timed activities)
  • Access to a favorite book or story (can be a physical book or an e-book)
  • Coloring materials (optional for creative activities)

Before the lesson, ensure L has access to a book they enjoy. Make sure to have a quiet space for reading and writing activities.

Activities

  • Story Creation:

L will write a short story of 3-5 paragraphs. They can choose their favorite characters or create new ones. Encourage them to include a beginning, middle, and end.

  • Reading Comprehension:

After reading a chapter or a few pages from their chosen book, L will answer a few comprehension questions. This will help them practice understanding and recalling what they read.

  • Book Discussion:

L will share their favorite part of the book with you. Ask them to explain why they liked it and what they would change if they were the author.

  • Creative Illustration:

Using coloring materials, L can illustrate a scene from their story or favorite book. This will help them visualize the story and express their creativity.
