Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe different aspects of Fall, including the changing colors of leaves, the weather, and seasonal activities. The student will also engage in hands-on activities to explore the beauty of Fall.
Materials and Prep
- Outdoor space for exploration
- Paper and crayons for drawing
- Empty container or bag for collecting leaves and acorns
- Comfortable clothes for outdoor activity
Before the lesson, ensure that the outdoor area is safe for exploration and that the weather is suitable for outdoor activities. Prepare the student by discussing what Fall means and what changes happen during this season.
Activities
-
Leaf Collecting: Take a walk outside to collect different types of leaves. Encourage the student to find leaves of various colors, shapes, and sizes. Discuss the colors and textures of the leaves as you collect them.
-
Crayon Rubbings: Once back indoors, place the leaves under a piece of paper and use crayons to make rubbings. This will create beautiful designs that showcase the leaf patterns.
-
Fall Story Time: Read a short story or talk about Fall activities like jumping in leaf piles, picking apples, or going to a pumpkin patch. Ask the student what their favorite Fall activity is.
-
Weather Observation: Discuss how the weather changes in Fall. Go outside and feel the air. Ask the student to describe how it feels and what they see, like clouds or sunshine.
