Objective

By the end of this lesson, Olga will be able to identify and use basic English vocabulary related to animals, create simple sentences, and express her thoughts about her favorite animals.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • A comfortable space to work

Before the lesson, think about a few of your favorite animals and how you can describe them. This will help you with the activities!

Activities

  • Animal Drawing:

Olga will choose her favorite animal and draw it on a piece of paper. After drawing, she will label the parts of the animal (like ears, tail, etc.) using simple words.

  • Sentence Creation:

Olga will write 3 simple sentences about her chosen animal. For example, "The dog is fluffy." This will help her practice sentence structure.

  • Animal Sounds Game:

Olga will make the sound of her favorite animal and see if I can guess which animal it is! This will make learning fun and interactive.

  • Story Time:

Olga will create a short story about her animal. She can use her drawing and sentences to help tell the story. This encourages creativity!

Talking Points

  • "What is your favorite animal? Can you tell me why you like it?"
  • "Let’s think about how we can describe this animal. What words can we use?"
  • "Can you show me how your animal sounds? Let’s see if I can guess!"
  • "When we write sentences, we start with a capital letter and end with a period. Can you show me?"
  • "What colors can you use to make your drawing look like your animal?"
  • "What kind of story can we create about your animal? Let’s think of an adventure!"
  • "Remember, it’s okay to make mistakes! That’s how we learn. What’s something new you learned today?"
