Objective
By the end of this lesson, J will understand the basics of Duo Interpretation by practicing a fun and humorous scene with a partner. J will learn how to express emotions, use funny voices, and create characters without looking at each other, making the performance entertaining and engaging.
Materials and Prep
- Two comfortable chairs for seating
- A short, humorous script or story that is age-appropriate
- Props or costumes from around the house (optional)
- A timer to keep track of practice time
- Space to perform the scene without distractions
Activities
-
Warm-Up Voices: Start with fun vocal exercises! J can make silly sounds, try different voices (like a funny monster or a happy bird), and practice making loud and soft sounds to get comfortable with their voice.
-
Character Creation: J can choose a character from the script and think about how that character feels. Is the character happy, silly, or grumpy? J can come up with a funny name and a special way to act it out!
-
Practice the Scene: J will practice the chosen scene with a partner (like a parent or sibling). They will take turns acting out their parts, focusing on using funny voices and facial expressions, while remembering not to look at each other!
-
Performance Time: After practicing, it’s time for a fun performance! J and their partner can act out the scene in front of family members, making everyone laugh and enjoy the show!
