Objective
By the end of this lesson, J will create and present a short original speech on a topic of interest. This will help J express ideas clearly, practice speaking in front of others, and explore creativity through writing.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- A timer (optional)
- A comfortable space to present the speech
Before starting, think of a few fun topics J might like to talk about, such as favorite animals, a fun day at the park, or what makes J happy.
Activities
-
Brainstorming Session:
Start by discussing different topics that J might be interested in. Encourage J to think about what they love or something fun that happened recently. Write down all ideas on paper.
-
Creating the Speech:
Once J has chosen a topic, help them organize their thoughts. Ask questions like, "What do you want to tell people about this?" and "Why is it important to you?" Help J write simple sentences or bullet points about their topic.
-
Practice Time:
Let J practice their speech out loud. Encourage them to use a loud and clear voice. You can pretend to be an audience and clap after each sentence to make it fun!
-
Presentation:
Set up a special spot for J to present their speech. It can be in front of family members (or stuffed animals!). Let J share their speech and celebrate their effort with cheers and applause!
