Objective

By the end of this lesson, J will be able to confidently deliver a short impromptu speech by creatively combining three chosen topics, enhancing their speaking and thinking skills.

Materials and Prep

  • Envelope with three different topics written on small pieces of paper.
  • A timer or clock to keep track of the 7 minutes.
  • A quiet space for J to practice speaking without distractions.

Activities

  • Topic Selection:

J will pick three topics from the envelope. This could be anything from "dinosaurs," "ice cream," or "space." The selection should be exciting and fun!

  • Brainstorming Session:

J will take a few moments to think about how these topics can be connected. For example, how can dinosaurs and ice cream be related? This encourages creative thinking!

  • Practice Speech:

J will practice delivering their speech, combining the three topics in a fun and engaging way. They can use silly voices or act out parts to make it more entertaining!

  • Delivery Time:

J will present their speech to you, keeping it within the 7-minute time limit. Encourage clapping and cheering to make it a fun experience!

Talking Points

  • "What do you think about when you hear the word 'dinosaur'? Can you tell me a funny story about it?"
  • "Ice cream is delicious! What flavors do you like? How would you share ice cream with a dinosaur?"
  • "Space is so big! If a dinosaur lived in space, what do you think it would do?"
  • "When we talk about different things, we can be very creative! Can you think of a silly way to connect your topics?"
  • "Remember, it’s okay to be silly and have fun while speaking! What funny voices can you use in your speech?"
