Objective
By the end of this lesson, Tanner will understand the concepts of patriotism and citizenship, including their importance in society. He will be able to identify ways to express patriotism and demonstrate responsible citizenship within his community.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook and pen/pencil for notes and reflections
- Access to a computer or device for research (optional)
- Art supplies (colored pencils, markers, paper) for creative activities
- Printouts of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Constitution (if available)
- Familiarity with basic definitions of patriotism and citizenship

Tanner will create a piece of artwork that represents his understanding of patriotism. This could be a drawing, painting, or collage that includes symbols of the United States, such as the flag, the eagle, or important historical figures.
