Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of puberty and its physical and emotional changes.

Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet
  • Printed or digital resources on puberty (books, articles, videos)

Activities

  1. Research Activity: Have the student use the computer or tablet to research and find information about puberty. They can explore reputable websites, read articles, or watch educational videos. Encourage them to take notes on the key points they discover.

  2. Journaling: Ask the student to reflect on their own thoughts and feelings about puberty. Have them write a journal entry discussing any questions, concerns, or curiosities they may have. Remind them that this is a safe space for self-expression and that they can choose to keep their journal private.

  3. Discussion and Q&A: Engage in an open and honest conversation about puberty. Use the student's research notes and journal entry as a starting point. Encourage them to ask any questions they may have, and provide accurate and age-appropriate answers. Create a comfortable and non-judgmental environment for discussion.

  4. Activity: Play a game of "Puberty Trivia" to reinforce the knowledge gained. Create a set of questions related to puberty and take turns asking and answering them. Offer positive reinforcement and encouragement throughout the game.
