Activities
- Geocaching Basics Discussion
Start with a fun discussion about what geocaching is. Ask the student what they think it might be and share some interesting facts about the activity, like how it started and how many people participate worldwide!
- Plan a Geocaching Adventure
Using a smartphone or computer, help the student find a local geocache. Discuss the coordinates and what to expect on the hunt. Make a plan about what to bring and how to approach the search as a team.
- Go on a Geocaching Hunt
Head outside to the chosen location and start the hunt! Encourage the student to use their map-reading skills and to work together with their sister and her boyfriend to find the hidden treasure.
- Create a Geocache
After finding a cache, brainstorm ideas for creating your own geocache. Discuss what items could be included and where it might be hidden. This activity can spark creativity and problem-solving skills!
- Reflection and Sharing
After the adventure, gather together to reflect on the experience. What did they enjoy? What challenges did they face? Encourage them to write down their thoughts in their notebook.
