Objective
By the end of this lesson, Zayn will have a deeper understanding of the themes and characters in "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," as well as the ability to relate these ideas to his own life and experiences.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook or journal for writing
- Pencil or pen
- Access to "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters" (book or audiobook)
- Art supplies (colored pencils, markers, paper)
- Timer (optional for activities)
Before the lesson, make sure Zayn has read the first few chapters of "Sea of Monsters" and is familiar with the main characters and setting.
Activities
- Character Exploration: Zayn will choose his favorite character from the book and write a short description of their personality, strengths, and weaknesses. He can also draw a picture of the character!
- Mythical Creature Creation: Zayn will create his own mythical creature inspired by the ones in the book. He will describe its abilities, weaknesses, and what kind of adventures it might have.
- Theme Discussion: Zayn will discuss the main themes of friendship and bravery in the book. He can think of a time when he showed bravery or helped a friend and share that story.
- Adventure Map: Zayn will draw a map of the journey Percy takes in "Sea of Monsters." He can include important locations and events that happen along the way.
