Objective

By the end of this lesson, Daniella and Alisia will have explored the connection between music and physical movement through fun activities that enhance their coordination, rhythm, and teamwork skills.

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson. Just a safe space to move around!
  • Make sure the area is clear of obstacles to prevent any accidents.
  • Prepare a playlist of fun songs that Daniella and Alisia enjoy, or choose some catchy tunes that inspire movement.

Activities

  • Musical Freeze Dance: Play a song and let Daniella and Alisia dance freely. When the music stops, they must freeze in place. This activity helps with listening skills and balance.

  • Rhythm Relay: Create a simple rhythm using claps or stomps. Have Daniella and Alisia take turns repeating the rhythm back. This will help them improve their timing and coordination.

  • Dance-Off Challenge: Each student takes turns showing off their best dance moves while the other cheers them on. This encourages creativity and self-confidence in movement.

  • Musical Statues: Similar to the freeze dance, but this time they must hold a specific pose when the music stops. This activity encourages balance and control.
