Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell and identify words related to bats.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
- Printed pictures of bats
- Scissors
Activities
-
Introduce the topic of bats and their characteristics. Show the printed pictures of bats and discuss their appearance and habits.
-
Ask the student to draw a bat on a piece of paper. Encourage them to be creative and include details like wings, ears, and eyes.
-
Write the word "bat" on the board or a separate piece of paper. Break down the word into individual sounds and ask the student to repeat them. Then, ask the student to spell the word "bat" out loud.
-
Provide the student with additional bat-related words, such as "wing," "night," and "fly." Help them sound out each word and spell it out loud. Encourage the student to write the words on their bat drawing.
-
Invite the student to cut out their bat drawing and any written words. They can then create a mini bat-themed collage by gluing the cut-outs onto a separate piece of paper.
