Materials and Prep
- Counting objects (e.g., blocks, toys, buttons)
- Number flashcards or number chart
- Writing materials (paper, pencil, crayons)
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Counting Fun:
Start by counting objects around the house together. You can count toys, buttons, or any other small items. Encourage your child to count aloud and join in the counting. You can also create a counting game by hiding objects and asking your child to find and count them.
-
Number Flashcards:
Show your child number flashcards or use a number chart. Ask them to identify the numbers and encourage them to count the corresponding number of objects. For example, if the flashcard shows the number 3, ask your child to count out 3 objects.
-
Writing Numbers:
Provide your child with paper and writing materials. Help them practice writing numbers by tracing over dotted numbers or guiding their hand to write the numbers independently. Start with numbers 1-5 and gradually introduce more numbers as they progress.
