Objective
By the end of this lesson, Arnia will understand the importance of picking up trash in the community, learn about the impact of littering on the environment, and express her creativity through art by creating a poster that encourages others to keep the community clean.
Materials and Prep
- Paper (any kind)
- Colored pencils or crayons
- Access to a local park or community area
- A bag for collecting trash
- Hand sanitizer (for cleanliness after picking up trash)
Before starting, make sure to discuss safety rules for picking up trash, such as avoiding sharp objects and wearing gloves if possible. Also, discuss the importance of staying safe in public spaces.
Activities

Community Clean-Up:
Take a walk to a nearby park or community area with a bag to collect trash. As you pick up litter, talk about what types of trash you find and why it might be harmful to the environment.

Art Project - Create a Clean-Up Poster:
After collecting trash, use the paper and colored pencils or crayons to create a poster that encourages others to keep the community clean. Use bright colors and fun slogans!

After the clean-up and art project, sit down and talk about what you learned. Ask Arnia how she feels about the trash she picked up and why it’s important to keep the environment clean.
