Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils and colored markers
  • Access to a Bible or a Bible storybook (optional)
  • Printed images of King Josaphat (optional)
  • Access to a quiet space for activities

Before the lesson, it would be helpful to have a brief overview of King Josaphat's story, including his reign as king of Judah, his reforms, and his faith in God. Familiarize yourself with key events in his life to facilitate discussion.

Activities

  • Story Time: Read a brief story about King Josaphat's life. Discuss his bravery and faith.

  • Character Sketch: Draw a picture of King Josaphat and write three words that describe him.
  • In this creative activity, the student will draw King Josaphat based on their imagination or any images they find. They will then write three adjectives that best describe his character, such as "brave," "faithful," and "wise."

  • Faith in Action: Create a mini-poster illustrating a lesson learned from King Josaphat's story.
  • The student will create a poster that highlights a moral or lesson from King Josaphat's life, such as trusting in God or leading with integrity. Encourage them to use drawings and words to express their ideas.

  • Role Play: Act out a scene from King Josaphat's life.
  • Choose a significant moment from King Josaphat's reign, such as a moment of prayer or a battle. The student can take on the role of King Josaphat and act out the scene, either alone or with family members participating.
