Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will explore the beauty of Fall through various activities that engage their senses, enhance their vocabulary, and introduce basic concepts in art, language, math, physical education, science, and social studies.
Materials and Prep
No special materials are required for this lesson. The activities can be done using everyday items found at home. It is helpful to know that Fall is a season when leaves change color, the weather gets cooler, and many fruits and vegetables are harvested.
Activities
-
Nature Walk: Take a short walk outside to observe the changes in nature during Fall. Look for colorful leaves, acorns, and pumpkins. Talk about the colors and shapes you see!
-
Leaf Rubbings: Collect some leaves during your walk. Place a leaf under a piece of paper and use a crayon to rub over it. This creates a beautiful pattern and helps with fine motor skills!
-
Fall Story Time: Read a simple book about Fall. Point out pictures of leaves, animals preparing for winter, and pumpkins. Encourage the child to repeat words and phrases.
-
Fall Dance: Play some fun music and have a dance party! Pretend to be falling leaves or jumping in a pile of leaves. This will incorporate physical activity while having fun!
-
Sorting Pumpkins: If you have different sizes or colors of pumpkins (real or toy), sort them by size or color. This introduces basic math concepts like sorting and categorizing.
