Objective
By the end of this lesson, Daniella and Alisia will have a better understanding of puberty, the changes that occur during this time, and will feel more comfortable discussing their feelings and experiences related to this important stage of life.
Materials and Prep
- Notebook and pen for each student
- Art supplies (colored pencils, markers, etc.)
- Printed worksheets with discussion questions
- A comfortable space for open conversation
- Optional: A timer for activities
Before the lesson, prepare the worksheets with questions related to puberty and ensure the art supplies are readily available for the creative activities.
Activities
- Discussion Circle: Start with a friendly chat about what they already know about puberty. Encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe space.
- Creative Expression: Have them create a poster that illustrates the physical and emotional changes during puberty using drawings and words.
- Role-Playing Scenarios: Create scenarios related to puberty (like talking to a friend about changes or dealing with peer pressure) and have them role-play these situations.
- Question Box: Set up a box where they can anonymously write down questions they have about puberty. Then, discuss these questions together.
This activity helps to break the ice and allows Daniella and Alisia to express their feelings and thoughts openly. It also sets the stage for deeper discussions.
Art can be a powerful way to express feelings. This activity allows them to visualize and articulate the changes they are experiencing or will experience.
This fun activity helps them practice how to communicate their feelings and navigate social situations that may arise during puberty.
This will help them voice their curiosities and concerns in a non-threatening way, making it easier to address any misconceptions they might have.
