Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to confidently change a diaper, understand the importance of hygiene, and recognize the different components involved in the process.

Materials and Prep

  • A doll or stuffed animal to practice on
  • One clean diaper (any size)
  • Wipes or a damp cloth
  • Plastic bag for disposal
  • Optional: Baby powder or cream for demonstration

Before the lesson, ensure that the student understands the importance of cleanliness and safety when handling babies and diapers.

Activities

  • Diaper Changing Demonstration

The teacher will demonstrate how to change a diaper on the doll or stuffed animal. This will include removing the dirty diaper, cleaning the area, and putting on a clean diaper.

  • Step-by-Step Practice

The student will then practice changing the diaper on the doll or stuffed animal, following the steps demonstrated. The teacher will provide guidance and feedback throughout the process.

  • Role-Playing Scenario

The student will create a scenario where they have to change a diaper in different situations (e.g., at home, in a park). This will help them think critically about diaper changing in real-life situations.

  • Hygiene Discussion

The student will engage in a discussion about the importance of hygiene when changing diapers, including washing hands before and after the process.
