Activities

  1. Brainstorming (10 minutes): Have the student choose a topic they are passionate about and ask them to brainstorm ideas related to that topic. Encourage them to write down any thoughts, arguments, or examples that come to mind.
  2. Outline Creation (15 minutes): Guide the student in creating an outline for their essay. Explain the importance of organizing their thoughts and arguments in a logical and coherent manner. Help them identify the main points they want to cover and how to structure their essay accordingly.
  3. Writing the Introduction (10 minutes): Instruct the student to write an engaging introduction that introduces the topic and presents their thesis statement. Encourage them to use attention-grabbing techniques such as anecdotes, quotes, or thought-provoking questions.
  4. Developing Body Paragraphs (20 minutes): Assist the student in expanding their outline into well-developed body paragraphs. Teach them how to provide supporting evidence, examples, and analysis to strengthen their arguments. Emphasize the importance of staying focused on the main topic and maintaining coherence throughout.
  5. Writing the Conclusion (10 minutes): Guide the student in crafting a strong conclusion that summarizes their main points and reinforces their thesis statement. Teach them how to leave a lasting impression on the reader by offering a thought-provoking closing statement or a call to action.
  6. Review and Edit (15 minutes): Have the student review their essay for grammar, punctuation, and clarity. Encourage them to read it aloud to identify any awkward sentences or areas that need improvement. Offer constructive feedback and suggestions for revision.
