Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of padveiligheid (pad safety) and how to stay safe while using digital devices. They will learn important rules and tips to protect their personal information and enjoy a safe online experience.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and colored pencils or markers
  • A computer or tablet with internet access (optional for research)
  • A comfortable space to sit and work
  • Basic knowledge of what padveiligheid means (discuss this briefly before starting)

Activities

  • Draw Your Safe Space: Have the student draw a picture of their favorite place to use a device. They should include things that make it safe, like having a parent nearby or using a password. Discuss why these things are important.

  • Password Creation Game: Teach the student how to create a strong password. Have them come up with their own password using a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. They can also create a fun story about their password to help them remember it.

  • Role-Playing Scenarios: Create different scenarios where the student has to decide what to do. For example, "What would you do if someone you don’t know sends you a message?" Discuss their answers and guide them to safe choices.

  • Make a Safety Poster: Using paper and colored pencils, the student can create a poster with their top 5 padveiligheid rules. Encourage them to be creative and use drawings or stickers to make it fun!
