Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through engaging activities related to the game My Singing Monsters. Activities

  1. Monster Math Challenge:

    Have the student create a list of their favorite monsters from the game. For each monster, they will assign a point value based on its rarity (common = 1 point, rare = 2 points, epic = 3 points). Then, they will calculate the total points for a selected group of monsters, practicing addition and multiplication.

  2. Island Investment:

    Discuss how many coins different monsters generate. Have the student calculate how many coins they would earn if they had a certain number of each type of monster. They can create a simple chart to visualize their findings, practicing multiplication and addition.

  3. Monster Trading Game:

    Create a trading scenario where each monster has a unique value. The student will practice subtraction by trading monsters and calculating how many they have left after each trade. This will help reinforce the concept of subtraction in a fun context.

  4. Rhythm and Rhyme Math:

    Have the student create a short song or rhyme using math facts they learned during the lesson. They can incorporate the names of their favorite monsters and the math operations they practiced, reinforcing their learning through creativity.
