Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the importance of cleaning a bathroom, learn effective cleaning techniques, and gain hands-on experience in making the bathroom clean and organized. The student will also develop a sense of responsibility and pride in maintaining their living space.

Materials and Prep

  • Bucket
  • Sponge or cloth
  • Toilet brush
  • Dish soap or all-purpose cleaner (if available)
  • Old toothbrush (for scrubbing hard-to-reach areas)
  • Paper towels or rags
  • Trash bag
  • Optional: Gloves for hand protection

Before starting the lesson, ensure that the bathroom is cleared of personal items and that any cleaning solutions are safe to use. Discuss any safety precautions, especially if using cleaning products.

Activities

  • Bathroom Scavenger Hunt:

Before cleaning, take a few minutes to identify items in the bathroom that need to be put away or cleaned. Create a list of items to find, such as "missing towels," "dusty shelves," or "toothpaste on the sink." This will make the cleaning process more engaging!

  • Cleaning Relay Race:

Set a timer for 10 minutes and see how many cleaning tasks can be completed in that time. Tasks can include wiping down surfaces, scrubbing the toilet, and organizing items. This turns cleaning into a fun challenge!

  • Before and After Photos:

Take "before" photos of the bathroom at the start of the lesson. After cleaning, take "after" photos to see the transformation. This visual representation can boost motivation and give a sense of accomplishment.
