Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to prepare a simple yet delicious dish, understand basic cooking techniques, and gain confidence in their cooking skills. They will also learn to appreciate the importance of ingredients and how to balance flavors.

  • Ingredients for a simple dish (e.g., pasta with tomato sauce, salad, or stir-fry)
  • Access to a stove and oven (if applicable)
  • Basic knowledge of knife skills and kitchen safety

Activities

  • Ingredient Exploration:

Start by exploring the ingredients you will use. Discuss where they come from, their nutritional value, and any interesting facts about them.

  • Cooking Demonstration:

Conduct a step-by-step cooking demonstration for the chosen dish. Explain each step clearly and encourage the student to ask questions.

  • Hands-On Cooking:

Let the student take the lead in cooking the dish. Guide them through the process, allowing them to make decisions about seasoning and presentation.

  • Tasting and Feedback:

Once the dish is prepared, sit down together to taste the food. Discuss what they like, what they would change, and how they can improve next time.

  • Recipe Creation:

Encourage the student to write down the recipe, including any modifications they made. This will help them remember the process and feel proud of their creation.
