Objective

Before the lesson, the student should think about any family members or friends who are veterans and be prepared to share their stories if applicable.

Activities

  • Research and Write a Biography:

    The student will choose a veteran to research, which could be a family member or a famous figure. They will write a short biography highlighting the veteran's service, achievements, and personal story.

  • Create a Thank You Card:

    The student will design and create a thank you card for veterans. They can use markers and colored pencils to make it colorful and heartfelt, expressing gratitude for their service.

  • Veteran's Day Reflection Journal:

    The student will start a reflection journal where they can write about what Veteran's Day means to them, their thoughts on military service, and any personal connections they have to veterans.

  • Watch a Short Documentary or Video:

    If possible, the student can find a short documentary or video about Veteran's Day or stories from veterans. They will take notes and share what they learned afterward.
