Objective

By the end of this lesson, P will learn about the Sun, its importance, and what it does for our planet. P will also engage in fun activities that help understand the Sun's role in our daily lives.

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Be prepared to explain concepts in simple terms.
  • Find a sunny spot outside or by a window for outdoor activities.

Activities

  • Sun Shadow Play: Go outside on a sunny day and have P stand in the sunlight. Show how P’s shadow changes as they move. Ask P to jump, spin, and see how the shadow moves! This helps P understand that the Sun makes shadows.

  • Sun Art: Use P's hands and feet to make sun prints on paper. Dip P's hands in water and then in sand (if available) to create textures. Let P create a big Sun using yellow and orange colors by drawing or painting with their fingers!

  • Sun Dance: Play some fun music and dance in the sunlight. Encourage P to pretend to be the Sun, shining bright and warm. This activity helps P connect movement with the concept of the Sun's energy.

Talking Points

  • "Look at the Sun! It gives us light and warmth. Isn't that nice?"
  • "When we stand in the Sun, we can see our shadows. Can you see yours?"
  • "The Sun helps plants grow. Do you see any flowers or trees? They love the Sun!"
  • "When we dance in the Sun, it feels warm and happy. Let's shine like the Sun!"
