Objective

By the end of this lesson, Vera will understand the basics of cleaning a house, including organizing spaces, dusting, and sweeping. She will gain practical skills and learn why keeping a tidy home is important.

Materials and Prep

  • Cleaning cloths (or any soft fabric available)
  • A small broom or dustpan (or just pretend with your hands)
  • Containers or boxes for organizing items
  • A timer (optional, for fun time challenges)

Before the lesson, ensure the cleaning area is safe and that Vera knows which spaces she can clean. It might be helpful to choose a specific room or area to focus on.

Activities

  • Organizing Challenge:

Vera will pick a room or a small area and gather items that belong together. She can use boxes or containers to sort toys, books, or any items. Set a timer for added fun!

  • Dusting Dance:

Vera can pretend to be a dancing duster! While cleaning surfaces, she can make up a fun dance to go along with her dusting. This makes cleaning feel like a game!

  • Mini Sweeping Race:

Using a small broom or her hands, Vera can have a mini race to see how quickly she can sweep a designated area. This can be a fun way to get her moving while cleaning!

  • Cleaning Storytime:

Vera can create a short story about a character who loves cleaning. She can share her story with you after the cleaning session, combining creativity with her new cleaning skills!

  • "Cleaning is like a treasure hunt! What treasures have you found while cleaning?"
  • "If you were a superhero of cleaning, what would your name be? What powers would you have?"
  • "Can you think of ways to make cleaning a fun game? What ideas do you have?"
  • "Remember, cleaning is not just about making things look good; it's about making our home a happy place!"
