Objective
By the end of this week, Maximus will reinforce his understanding of shapes, practice prewriting skills, enhance reading readiness with the letters M and X, and develop counting skills while sorting different types of transportation vehicles. Additionally, he will engage in outdoor play to promote physical fitness and kindness through social-emotional learning.
Materials and Prep
- Boat ride tracing worksheet
- Paper and crayons or markers
- Transportation sort cards (air, land, sea vehicles)
- Counting objects (like blocks or toys) for numbers 1-10
- SEL book: "Kindness to Share from A to Z" by Todd and Peggy Snow
- Outdoor play equipment (trampoline, swings, slide)
Activities
- Shape Hunt: Go on a shape hunt around the house or yard to find squares and triangles. Maximus can draw what he finds and label the shapes.
- Tracing Practice: Use the boat ride tracing worksheet to practice slant and curve lines. Maximus can trace the lines with crayons and then color the boats.
- Transportation Sorting: Sort transportation vehicles into air, land, and sea categories using the transportation sort cards. Maximus can create a poster with pictures of each type.
- Counting Fun: Count objects from 1 to 10 using blocks or toys. Maximus can arrange them in a line and practice counting out loud.
- Outdoor Play: Spend time on the trampoline, swings, and slide to promote physical activity. Encourage Maximus to jump, swing, and slide safely.
- Read Aloud: Read "Kindness to Share from A to Z" together. Discuss the importance of kindness and how Maximus can show kindness each day.
