Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice reading skills while building with Legos.

Materials and Prep

  • Lego bricks
  • Reading book or story
  • Paper and pencil

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Choose a reading book or story that you would like to read.

  2. Find a comfortable place to sit and start reading the book or story.

  3. As you read, pay attention to any interesting characters, settings, or events in the story.

  4. After reading a few pages, pause and use your Lego bricks to build a scene or model that represents something from the story.

  5. Continue reading and building, creating new scenes or models as you progress through the story.

  6. Once you finish reading, take a moment to reflect on your Lego creations. Think about how they relate to the story and what parts of the story they represent.

  7. Write a short paragraph describing your favorite scene or model and explain why you chose it.
