Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Knowledge of the food pyramid or MyPlate guidelines (can be discussed during the lesson)

Activities

  • Food Group Exploration: The student will research and create a colorful poster that represents the different food groups. They can include pictures, examples of foods, and nutritional benefits of each group.

  • Healthy Snack Creation: The student will prepare a simple healthy snack using the ingredients available. They will measure the portions and discuss the nutritional value of their choices.

  • Hydration Game: The student will set a timer for 30 minutes and track how much water they drink. They will reflect on how hydration affects energy levels and overall health.

  • Meal Planning Challenge: The student will create a balanced meal plan for a day, ensuring they include all food groups. They can draw or write down their meals and discuss why they chose each item.
