No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Introduction to Art: Begin by discussing with the student what art is. Talk about how art can be found in various forms such as paintings, sculptures, drawings, and even digital art. Show examples of different types of art if available.
- Art Appreciation: Show the student a few printed images of famous artworks or display them on a computer or tablet screen. Ask the student to observe each artwork and describe what they see. Encourage them to notice the colors, shapes, and any objects or people depicted in the artworks.
- Artistic Expression: Provide the student with paper, pencils, and crayons or markers. Ask them to choose a subject they would like to draw, such as their favorite animal or a scene from nature. Encourage them to use their imagination and creativity to create their own artwork. Offer guidance and support as needed.
- Art Gallery: Once the student has completed their artwork, create a mini art gallery in your homeschool space. Display their artwork along with any printed images of famous artworks. Discuss each piece and ask the student to explain their inspiration and artistic choices.
