Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe different types of animals, their habitats, and what they eat. The student will also engage in fun activities to reinforce their learning.

Materials and Prep

  • No special materials are needed for this lesson.
  • Be prepared to talk about various animals and their characteristics.
  • Think of some fun animal sounds to make during the lesson!

Activities

  • Animal Sounds Game: Make different animal sounds and have the student guess which animal makes that sound. This will help them learn to identify animals by their sounds!

  • Animal Movement Charades: Act like different animals and have the student guess which animal you are. Encourage them to join in and mimic the movements too!

  • Draw Your Favorite Animal: Have the student draw their favorite animal and talk about where it lives and what it eats. This encourages creativity and reinforces what they've learned.

Talking Points

  • "What sound does a cow make? Can you make that sound?"
  • "Let’s pretend to be a frog! How does a frog move?"
  • "Can you tell me where your favorite animal lives? Is it in the jungle, the ocean, or maybe in our backyard?"
  • "What do you think a lion eats? Do you think it eats grass or meat?"
