Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of how to create a simple story using their imagination. They will learn to structure their story with a beginning, middle, and end, and will have fun creating characters and settings.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or colored pencils
- A comfortable space to sit and write
Before the lesson, ensure the student has a quiet and comfortable area to work in. Encourage them to think about their favorite stories and what makes them enjoyable.
Activities
-
Character Creation: The student will draw and describe their main character. They can think about what their character looks like, what they like to do, and what challenges they might face.
-
Setting the Scene: The student will choose a location for their story. They can draw a picture of the setting and write a few sentences about it, describing what makes it special.
-
Story Structure: The student will outline their story using a simple chart with three sections: Beginning, Middle, and End. They will fill in each section with ideas about what will happen in the story.
-
Story Time: The student will read their story aloud to a family member or friend. This will help them practice their storytelling skills and gain confidence.
