Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concept of counting from 1 to 10 and be able to identify numbers through fun activities and games.
Materials and Prep
- Fingers (for counting)
- Objects around the house (to count, like toys or snacks)
- Voice (for singing counting songs)
- Imagination (for creative play)
Activities
-
Counting Fingers: Start by using your fingers to count from 1 to 10. Hold up one finger for one, two fingers for two, and so on. This helps to visualize the numbers!
-
Count the Toys: Gather some toys and ask the student to count them one by one. You can say, "How many teddy bears do we have?" and help them count together.
-
Counting Song: Sing a simple counting song, like "Five Little Ducks" or "Ten in the Bed." Encourage the student to join in and count along with you!
-
Number Hunt: Go on a number hunt around the house. Ask the student to find items that can represent numbers, like 3 apples or 5 blocks, and count them together.
Talking Points
- "Let's count together using our fingers! Can you show me one finger?"
- "How many toys do you have? Let's count them one by one!"
- "Do you want to sing a counting song? It will be so much fun!"
